Just Whose Money Is It, Anyway?

The website, FactCheck.Org is a good source of information regarding campaign commercials for the upcoming Presidential elections. Essentially, it's function is to cut through all the crap and get to the truth behind the demagoguery

However, I have to disagree with their assessment in this article.

The headline of the article states,

"Bush campaign falsely accuses Kerry of voting 350 times for tax increases."

It then proceeds to explain that in addition to votes where Kerry voted for actual increases in current tax rates that W's campaign is also counting tax decreases that Kerry voted against. And also tax decreases that he voted for when there were bigger tax decreases available to vote for in other bills.

Inasmuch as it's MY money that's being taxed away. I'm going to have to side with George W. Bush on this one. Not to put words in W's mouth, because I doubt he'd agree with what I'm about to say. But taxes are legalized theft. And any missed opportunity to put the most amount of my money back in my pockets is reprehensible on the part of Senator Kerry and the voters should be made aware of this. Any time there was/is the potential to vote to lower taxes and Senator Kerry chose not to take full advantage of that fact he was by implication voting to raise them above where they potentially could be if he voted for them. The fact that he has seen fit in his career in Washington to do this more than 350 times is singularly damning.
